This task focuses on reading and speaking skills. Students imagine they have finished Year 12 and have decided to spend a Gap year in Japan. Their family has decided to join them for the first 3 months and have signed up with a house swap company. The student is responsible for navigating their family through the application process.
Task overview
There are two parts to this task.
Part A: Students will receive several house swap profiles. Students are required to write answers to questions in English about the options and the reasoning behind their house swap preferences. This section will take approximately 30 minutes.
Part B: Students will be interviewed individually in Japanese by their teacher who will be acting as a house swap company staff member. Students will need to consider the decisions they made in Part A and be prepared to answer questions about these decisions and their personal background. This section will take approximately 5 minutes.
