This task focuses on listening and writing skills. Students imagine their Japanese class is going to Japan for a two-week language and culture tour. The trip includes two one-day tours of Tokyo. The students have been asked to view advertisements in Japanese about each tour using this information to decide their preferred tour option.
Task overview
There are two parts to this task.
Part A: Students will view the two advertisements. Students are required to write answers to questions in English about the tour options and the reasoning behind their tour preferences. This section will take approximately 20 minutes. Students then have an additional 10 minutes to make notes on the prepared paper about details provided in the video that they may wish to refer to during the writing component in Part B. Students cannot refer to the video again once they commence Part B.
Part B: Students are required to write three diary entries in Japanese based on the experiences offered in the tour advertisements viewed in Part A. This section will take approximately 30 minutes.
